Immigrant who buys real estate may have a residence permit << Voltar

The National Council of Immigration, tied to the Ministry of Labor, published this Thursday(22) a resolution that authorizes residence for an undetermined amount of time to immigrants who invest in real estate in the country. By the new rule, the Ministry can authorize residency for immigrants who intend to buy real estate, built or in construction, with their own resources. The properties must be in an urban area.

To have the right to reside in the country, the investment must be equal or greater than R$ 1.000.000,00 in the South, Southeast, or Midwest, and R$ 700.000,00 in the North and Northeast.

The Ministry of Labor is the organ responsible for the emission of authorizations of residency for immigrants who intend to exert some sort of professional activity in the country. By means of the press office, the Minister of Labor, Caio Vieira de Mello, determined that the measure will bring resources and employment opportunities to Brazil, and that the organized migration is necessary, due to it bringing riches and technology.

The unpublished standard is a result of the new Law of Migration, which started being reinforced one year ago. To define the conditions of the resolution, the National Council of Immigration made a series of studies to translate the experiences of other countries to the reality in Brazil.

The resolution doesn´t discriminate based on nationality, being applied to all foreigners who are interested in investing in Brazil. By the rule, the authorization will have the initial deadline of two years, and, in case the maintenance of the property is proven, it might be renewed for an undetermined amount of time.
